Ngorongoro

As we finished our breakfast we could hear the staff burst into song making their way to our breakfast table where Sue was sitting. They had a cake as a farewell gift for her as it was her last visit there until next year. Then there was dancing before making their way back to the kitchen.
Breakfast with some song and dance.

Time to leave the Serengeti National Park, with it's many varieties of Acacia trees, and ride the corrugations again game driving all the way. We had some great sightings of Cheetahs in action with one that almost hit our truck while chasing a gazelle. Luckily for the gazelle the cheetah gave up the chase but it was so exciting to watch. In another area we viewed a Lion up a tree with its kill

We pulled up to watch Thompson Gazelles in front of us then next minute there was a flash of a Cheetah flying through the grass and in a split second the Gazelle was in it's mouth all within 50metres of our truck. Our guide tells us it is very rare for a group to see so much action amongst the Cheetahs so we are very lucky.

By late afternoon we reach the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where we stay the night at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge at a height of 1600m on the crater rim. A pleasant change in temperature.
View from our room over the crater 600m down to the crater floor with it's Jade coloured salt Lake Magadi.
Before our meal we were entertained by some amazingly agile African gymnasts.

What a wonderful time you are having. Pen is wondering if you have a tanzanite yet.
